MEMPHIS, Tenn., Nov. 9, 2019 – The No. 23 University of South Florida women's soccer program moves on to the American Athletic Conference Championship game after defeating the UCF Knights, 2-1, on Nov. 8.
Evelyne Viens (L'Ancienne-Lorette, Quebec, Canada) tallied her 18
th career multi-goal game by netting both of the goals for the Bulls.
Sydney Martinez (Rincon, Ga.) made three saves to preserve the win while
Sydny Nasello (Land O' Lakes, Fla.) assisted both of Viens' goals in the win.
Earlier in the week, Viens added American Athletic Conference's Co-Offensive Player of the Year to her impressive list of accolades and
Andrea Hauksdottir (Kopavogur, Iceland) was named the AAC's Midfielder of the Year. Five Bulls were also placed on all-conference teams. Viens and Hauksdottir were named to The American First Team All-Conference. Nasello was placed on second team all-conference, while
Lucy Roberts (Cheshire, England) and
Rosalia Muino Gonzalez (Coruna, Spain) earned a spot on The American's All-Rookie Team.
Memphis (17-1-1, 8-0-1)
The No. 8 Memphis Tigers won the American's regular season title, posting a 15-1-1 record and an 8-0-1 conference record in the regular season. The Tigers clinched the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament and won its match against SMU in the semifinals on Friday, 4-2.
Co-American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year Clarissa Larisey has been the driver of the Tigers' offense so far this season. Her 16 goals and four assists places her at no. 2 in the conference in points, behind Viens. Tanya Boychuk (nine goals, three assists) and Stasia Mallin (three goals, 14 assists) also aid in the Memphis attack. The American Goalkeeper of the Year Elizabeth Moberg has posted a 0.41 goals against average and a 0.848 save percentage in 18 appearances this season.
In the regular season, Memphis defeated USF, 2-1, in the opening weekend of conference play at Corbett Stadium.

- Evelyne Viens (L'Ancienne-Lorette, Canada) was named a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award. Voting is open until Nov. 18 and the winner will be announced during the College Cup in December.
- In each of the last 2 seasons, the team that won The American regular-season title was defeated in the conference tourney final by a team they defeated during the regular season.
- The Bulls outshot opponents in every game this season. Entering the postseason, USF compiled a plus-198 shot differential.
