Bulls Fall to Tennessee

Knoxville, TN., Feb. 17, 2019 – USF wrapped up a two-match road trip with a 4-0 loss to Tennessee on Sunday afternoon at the Goodfriend Tennis Center.

USF (4-5) lost the doubles point on courts one and two to begin the match. Vanja Klaric (Gaborone, Botswana), and Ana Roman Dominguez (Burgos, Spain), matched up against the No. 17 pairing of sophomore Kaitlin Staines (Wagga Wagga, Australia) and senior Sadie Hammond (Belgrade, Maine), but fell 6-1, on court one. Freshman Amelie Boy (Trianon, Mauritis), and sophomore Evelyne Tiron (Bucharest, Romania), also lost their match 6-1, on court two. Action on court three went unfinished.

On court four, Boy pushed the match to a tiebreaker in the second set, but eventually fell, 6-2, 7-6 (3), which clinched the match for the 6-2 Volunteers, who are receiving votes in the ITA poll. During this time, senior Nicole Dzenga (Harare, Zimbabwe), lost in straight-sets on court six, 6-3, 6-1, against freshman Maia Haumuller (Corral De Bustos, Argentina).

Meanwhile on court three, Klaric also fell in straight-sets, 6-4, 6-4, to junior Johanna Silva (Hamburg, Germany).

There were three matches that went unfinished - No. 36 Roman Dominguez and senior Sadie Hammond (Belgrade Maine) on court one, Tiron and sophomore Kaitlin Staines (Wagga Wagga, Australia) on court two, and freshman Laura Pellicer Perello (Gandia, Valencia, Spain), vs. sophomore Tenika McGiffin (Brisbane, Australia) on court five.
