USF Takes on Mississippi State, Oklahoma at Home
TAMPA, Feb. 21, 2019 – The University of South Florida women's tennis team (4-5) will return home after a two-game road trip to face Mississippi State on Friday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m., and then take on Oklahoma, Sunday Feb. 24., at noon, at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
The Bull's last weekend at home included a shutout win over their first opponent, MTSU, 7-0, and a win over UNF, 6-1.
Senior
Ana Roman Dominguez (Burgos, Spain), sits at No. 44 in the ITA single's rankings. Roman Dominguez is 7-2 at the premier spot this season, with three ranked wins.
Scouting the Opponent:
Mississippi State
Mississippi State (9-2) is coming into this match on a seven-game win streak. The Bulldogs have two ranked players, the first being freshman Emma Antonaki (Athens, Greece), at No. 104, who is 6-0 at the No. 2 spot and 1-1 at the No. 1 spot. Mississippi State's second ranked player, sophomore Magda Adaloglou (Veria, Greece), sits at No. 89 and is 4-2 at the premier spot and 2-0 at the No. 2 spot.
The Bulldogs' best doubles tandem, Antonaki and senior Anastasia Rentouli (Athens, Greece), are 5-1 at the No. 2 spot in doubles and 1-0 at the premier spot.
Oklahoma
Oklahoma (5-2) is also coming into this weekend on a win streak, that of two games. The Sooners are 2-1 on the road, with those two victories both being 4-0 shutouts. Oklahoma has one ranked singles player on their team, junior Oleksandra Korashvili (Odessa, Ukraine), who sits at No. 60 and is 4-2 at the No. 2 spot.
The pairing of sophomores Camilla Romero (Guayaquil, Ecuador), and Martina Capurro (Buenos Aires, Argentina). are 3-1 at the No. 2 spot in doubles. Before traveling to Tampa, the Sooners' first stop in the sunshine state is Gainesville, Fl., to take on the Gators.
