Bulls Fall to Oklahoma, 4-1

TAMPA, FEB. 24, 2019 – USF fell at home to Oklahoma, 4-1, for the team's first home loss in the month of February, on Sunday afternoon.
 
USF (5-6) dropped the doubles point with losses on courts two and three, but the Bulls won their match on court one. Freshman Amelie Boy (Trianon, Mauritis), and senior Nicole Dzenga (Harare, Zimbabwe), finished the match with a 6-3 victory over Oklahoma's pairing of junior Jasminie Asghar and freshman Ivana Corley.
 
Evelyne Tiron (Bucharest, Romania), took on OU's only ranked singles player on court two, but fell to No. 60 Oleksandra Korashvil, 6-1, 6-1. The match on court three gave Oklahoma its third point when Boy fell in straight sets on court three, to Jasmine Asghar 6-4, 6-4.
 
Despite the Sooners' 3-0 lead, freshman Laura Pellicer Perello, (Gandia, Valencia, Spain) battled in straight sets, 7-6(4), 6-2, on court four, to get the Bullson the board.
 
The final match to finish was court six where Junior Janvhi Clark (Tauranga, New Zealand), fell to Skylar Miller in straight-sets, 6-2, 6-4, which clinched the victory for the Sooners.
 
There were two matches that went unfinished: No. 44 Ana Roman Dominguez (Burgos, Spain), on court one was ahead, 7-5, 5-4, at the time the match concluded, and Dzenga who was leading 7-6(5), 4-0.

"We needed some players to step-up and I think we accomplished that. I was really happy with how we competed on most of the spots in singles today and doubles."
