Bulls Ready for First Conference Matchup Against Tulane
TAMPA, Mar. 2, 2019 – The University of South Florida women's tennis team will go up against Tulane for their first American Athletic Conference match of the season at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts on Sunday at noon.
USF (5-6) went 1-1 last weekend, with a win over Mississippi State, 5-2, and a loss to Oklahoma, 4-1.
Senior
Ana Roman Dominguez (Burgos, Spain), notched her fourth ranked win of the season when the Bulls took on Mississippi State. She improved to 8-1 this season when she defeated No. 89 sophomore Magda Adaloglou (Mississippi State), 6-0, 6-1, on court one.
Freshman
Laura Pellicer Perello (Gandia, Valencia, Spain), won two straight over the weekend playing on courts four and five. She is now 3-0 on court four, and 1-1 on court five.
USF's best doubles team is the pairing of seniors
Nicole Dzenga (Harare, Zimbabwe), and
Vanja Klaric (Gaborone, Botswana). The pair boasts a 5-3 record including a two game winning streak on the top court.
Scouting the Opponent:
Tulane
Tulane (5-7) is coming into this match after a 4-1 win over UAB. Tulane's best singles player, sophomore Daniela La Fuente, is 3-2 at the No. 3 spot, including a win over then-No. 114 Anna Vrbenska from Ole Miss.
The Green Wave's ranked doubles pair, junior Ivone Alvaro and senior Elena Muller, is currently No. 25. The tandem plays at the premier spot and is 9-2,after winning their last five games.
