No. 14 Bulls Finish Ninth at Women’s Team Race National Invite

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., April 15, 2019 – The USF women's sailing team finished ninth at this past weekend's Women's Team Race National Invitational in Providence, R.I.
All 12 teams that entered in the event were ranked in the top 25. No. 2 Brown took the overall win. USF finished ahead of No. 8 Harvard, No. 18 UPenn, No. 23 Tufts and No. 24 Northeastern.

About USF Sailing
The USF sailing program has reached the national finals in six of the last seven years. The Bulls finished in the top 10 during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. The sailing team is based out of St. Petersburg and led by head coach Allison Jolly, a former USA Olympian and 2016 Florida Sports Hall of Fame inductee.

- Sophomores Marina Barzaghi (Saunderstown, R.I.), Katie Bornarth and Samantha Kappaz, seniors Darby Capellin (Bradenton, Fla.) and Rachel Yannelli (Woodcliff Lake, N.J.) along with sophomore Samantha Kappaz and freshman Chloe Sweeting (Hope Town, Marsh Harbour, Bahamas) competed in Rhode Island.
- USF has placed in the top-10 in all six of its events this spring.
- The Bulls finished with an overall record of 10-10, finishing strong with a 6-2 record Sunday in the head-to-head races.
