USF defeats Cincinnati 4-2 to Advance to Semifinals
ORLANDO, APRIL 18, 2019 – No. 2 seeded USF women's tennis team beat No. 10 seeded Cincinnati 4-2, to advance to the semifinals of the American Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Championships on Thursday afternoon.

USF (12-10, 4-2), won the doubles point against Cincinnati (12-11, 1-3), with a 6-2 win on court two from the freshman pairing of
Amelie Boy (Trianon, Mauritis), and senior
Ana Roman Dominguez (Burgos, Spain), and a 6-3 win on court three by the duo of junior
Janvhi Clark (Tauranga, New Zealand), and freshman
Laura Pellicer Perello (Gandia, Valencia, Spain).

USF advances to the semifinals for the fourth year and will face SMU on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m.

Pellicer Perello came out swinging and won her singles match in straight-sets 6-1, 6-4, on court two to put the Bulls up 2-0.

Cincinnati then beat Clark 6-2, 6-0, on court six to shorten USF's lead by one. Senior
Nicole Dzenga (Harare, Zimbabwe), won her match in straight-sets, 6-3, 7-5, on court four. Cincinnati won their match on court three 6-4, 6-3, over Boy, leaving the Bulls up one point in a 3-2 battle.

Mjos seized her opportunity to clinch the win for the Bulls taking down her opponent in straight-sets 7-6(5), 6-3, on court five.

The match between No. 58 Roman Dominguez and Antonella Bramato went unfinished on court one.
