Michael Kelly interviews Chucky Atkins, a star guard for USF men's basketball from 1992-96, in the third episode of
Kelly's Conversations.

Atkins' USF Feats
- USF Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2012 member.
Became the second player in USF men's basketball history to have his jersey number (No. 12) retired on Feb. 10, 2001.
- All-conference selection in Conference USA and the Metro Conference after earning a spot on the Metro's all-freshman team in 1993.
- Four-year starter who played in 111 games.
- Led USF to wins over St. John's and Coppin State on the way to a third-round appearance in the 1995 NIT. Holds the Bulls' NIT single-game record with 11 assists against Coppin State on March 20, 1995.
- Became the 11th USF player to score 1,000 career points and just the fourth to do so prior to his senior season. One of the first two Bulls to score 1,600 points and dish out 500 assists in a career.
- NOTABLE USF CAREER RANKINGS: First in three-point attempts (674), No. 2 in three-pointers made (244); No. 4 on all-time assists list (519); No. 6 in scoring (1,619 points), double-digit scoring games (85), free throws made (323) and field goal attempts (1,284); seventh in field goals made (526) and three-point field goal percentage (.362); tied for 10th in scoring average (14.6 ppg).
- USF SINGLE-SEASON RANKINGS: Tied for second in assists (196 in 1994-95); No. 2 and No. 3 in three-pointers made (84 in 1994-95, 82 in 1995-96); tied for sixth in scoring average (19.3 ppg in 1995-96).
- USF's assist leader in all four of his seasons on the court. Led the Metro Conference with 196 assists (6.5 apg) and 84 made three-pointers in 1994-95.
- Led USF in free throws in each of his final three seasons and was the Bulls' top scorer in 1994-95 and 1995-96.
- Tied for 10th on the program's single-game scoring chart with a career-high 36 points – still the most by any USF senior - at rival UCF on Dec. 11, 1995.
- Made at least one three-pointer in 14 consecutive games, the ninth-longest streak in USF history, which he achieved twice.
Pro Notes
Eleven-year NBA veteran who entered the league in 1999 with the Orlando Magic after playing professionally in the CBA (1996-97) and overseas in Croatia (1997-99). He signed with Orlando as a free agent Sept. 21, 1999.
- Averaged 9.9 points, 3.4 assists and 1.3 made three-pointers per game in his NBA career. Played 696 regular-season games (325 starts) and 36 playoff games (21 starts).
- Spent his NBA career with Orlando, Detroit, Boston, Los Angeles (Lakers), Washington, Memphis, Denver and Oklahoma City.
- Named to the Schick NBA All-Rookie Team after averaging 9.5 points and 3.7 assists per game in his only season with Orlando.

- Born Aug. 14, 1974 in Orlando, Fla. Played for Evans High School.
- Averaged nine points and three assists for Team USA, as the Americans earned the gold medal at the 1995 World University Games.

The Bulls' athletic program began in 1965 and is in its 54th season in 2019-20.
