Bulls Face FSU To Start The Season

TAMPA, Jan. 25, 2021 – The University of South Florida women's tennis team starts its 2021 season on the road against the No. 9 Florida State Seminoles. The match is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Tallahassee, Fla. at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center.
 
South Florida is returning nine players of its players from last season. The Bulls finished with a 5-7 record in the shortened season and gained experience against two ranked teams, No. 1 Stanford and No. 45 Denver.
 
"We are definitely excited and as ready as we can be to get the season going tomorrow," head coach Cristina Moros said. "We know we are extremely fortunate to be able to play at all and are very appreciative of everyone who has helped keep us safe and playing thus far. We start off with some extremely tough competition, so looking forward to seeing how our competitors match up against some of the best teams in the country."
 
Scouting FSU
The Seminoles are ranked the No. 9 team in the country by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association and ended last season 14-3. FSU started last weekend with their FSU Invitational where they went undefeated against UGA and Clemson.
 
FSU has three players ranked in the ITA singles rankings: Giulia Pairone (No. 27), Nandini Das (No. 92), and Victoria Allen (No. 106). Also, they have two pairs ranked in the ITA doubles: Allen/Petra Hule (No. 7) and Pairone/Emmanuelle Salas (No. 50).
 
Florida State currently holds a 5-3 advantage against the Bulls. Head Coach Jennifer Hyde enters her 22nd season as the winningest women's tennis coach in Florida State history with a record of 252-158.
