TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 9, 2021 – The University of South Florida women's soccer team returns home for a ranked conference matchup against the SMU Mustangs.  
 
The Bulls are coming off a league win over UCF in the War On I-4. Emilie Lajmiri (Odense, Denmark) scored her first collegiate goal in double-overtime to push USF to a 2-1 win. Sydney Martinez (Rincon, Ga.) made eight saves while Lucy Roberts (Cheshire, England) scored the other goal for USF.
 
Scouting SMU
SMU is ranked at No. 15/16 in the national polls with a 7-2-1, 1-1-1 record so far.
 
Courtney Sebazco leads the Mustangs with 10 points via four goals and two assists, while Wayny Balata and Elisabeth Tse both have six points from two goals and two assists this season. In net, Tatum Sutherland and Samantha Estrada have split time, combining to post a 0.58 GAA and a 0.889 save percentage.
 
The Series vs. The Mustangs
USF leads the all-time series, 6-1-1. The Bulls took last season's matchup, 1-0 in Dallas. SMU's last win came in 2016, a 1-0 decision at Corbett. The Bulls are on a four game win streak.

Denise Schilte-Brown. The Bulls made their first NCAA tournament appearance in 2010 and returned in 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. South Florida has won four consecutive conference championships, earning the tournament title in 2017, 2019 and 2020 as well as the regular-season title in 2018 and 2020. The program had its first draft pick and second-highest pick in USF Athletics history with Evelyne Viens being taken with the fifth overall pick in the 2020 NWSL Draft by Sky Blue FC, now Gotham FC.
