TAMPA, Fla., Feb. 26, 2021 – The University of South Florida women's soccer team looks to keep its season-opening success going as it travels to Gainesville, Fla. for its non-conference finale against the Florida Gators.
The Bulls are coming off a 2-0 victory in its home and conference opener against the Temple Owls.
Katie Kitching (Bedale, England) and
Paula Leblic (Madrid, Spain) scored for USF in the match, while
Sydney Martinez (Rincon, Ga.) posted her second consecutive shutout. Leblic was named the AAC Defensive Player of the Week and
Chiara Hahn (Lauterbach, Germany) was named AAC Rookie of the Week. Kitching and Martinez were both named to the conference's honor roll.
Opponent
Florida (3-7-1) is coming off a 5-1 victory over College of Charleston in its spring season opener. The Gators played the majority of its season during the fall. Parker Roberts is the Gators leading scorer so far this season, posting 11 points via four goals and three assists. Cassidy Lindley and Maddy Rhodes have both tallied seven points off three goals and one assist. In net, Susi Espinoza has started all but one of the Gators' 11 games, posting a 2.28 GAA and a .511 save percentage.
Becky Burleigh is in her 26
th and final season as head coach of the Gators. She holds a 428-136-38 record at UF and a 510-159-44 record all-time.
