Bulls Come Back To Defeat Stetson, 5-2

DELAND, Fla., Feb. 7, 2021 – University of South Florida women's tennis team won its first match of the season on the road against Stetson on Sunday, 5-2.
The Bulls got off to a fast start with freshman Grace Schumacher (Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia) and sophomore Margriet Timmermans (Bergen op Zoom, Netherlands) winning their doubles set, 6-0, but the Hatters clinched the doubles point with 6-4 wins on court one and three.
South Florida trailed heading into singles, but quickly earned two points from senior Evelyne Tiron (Bucharest, Romania) winning in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2 to even the score, followed by junior Amelie Boy (Trianon, Mauritius) defeating Danel Ashirova 6-2 in both sets.
The Bulls continued their lead with a win from junior Laura Pellicer (Gandia, Valencia, Spain), 6-3, 6-4 on court four. USF continued to fight as the last three courts went into third sets. Timmermans picked up her second singles win of the season, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 and clinched the match win for the Bulls. On court two, Schumacher moved her singles record to 3-0 and closed out the match beating Anais Gabriel, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.
