BOCA RATON, Fla., March 16, 2021 – The University of South Florida women's tennis team suffered a 6-1 loss against Florida Atlantic on Tuesday morning.
 
Laura Pellicer (Gandia, Valencia, Spain) and Grace Eland (Manchester, England) got off to a great start for the Bulls and won their doubles set, 6-1 over the pair of Martina Kudelova and May Kimhi. However, FAU picked up wins on court one and two to clinch the doubles point.
 
The Owls (6-4) kept their momentum going into singles, taking four of the first sets and clinched the duel for themselves after the first three singles matches ended in their favor. South Florida (5-7) continued to fight on the remaining courts with both Pellicer and Grace Schumacher (Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia) winning their first sets, 6-4.
 
After picking up the first set, 6-4, Pellicer dropped the second set, 7-6, and eventually lost in a third set tiebreaker, 6-4, 6-7, 0-1. Schumacher got the lone point for the Bulls earning her seventh singles win of the season, defeating Florida Atlantic's Na Kallmunzerova in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.

"I can't sugar coat this one. As a team we did not do a great job of competing on all six courts and it started in doubles. Grace Schumacher was our bright spot today as she executed much of what we did in practice this past week and it paid off. We need to find a way to pivot otherwise we will find ourselves in this same situation tomorrow afternoon."
