Bulls Remain Resilient in Regatta at Charleston
March 24, 2021 | Women's Sailing
Charleston, S.C., March 23, 2021 – The USF Sailing team competed in its first regular season competition at the College of Charleston Team Race Invitational this weekend, tying for fifth place but ultimately losing the tiebreaker for a final sixth place finish.
USF was within striking distance of the top half of boats through day one of racing, but Sunday's racing was moved to Cooper River instead of Crab Bank, which added a current and conditions USF's all-female team battled through. The Bulls faced adversity on the weekend, including rough wind conditions, a change in venue which featured a river current, and fashioning the only female team in the six-boat race.
"It was cold, rainy and windy, but the team worked very hard under adverse conditions to win three contests," head coach Allison Jolly said.
USF finished 3-12 in its record for the weekend. USF Sailing will compete next in the SAISA Conference Championships on April 3 in St. Petersburg, Fla.
