Women’s Soccer’s Martinez, Nasello Named to MAC Hermann Trophy Watchlist

TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 25, 2021 – University of South Florida women's soccer student-athletes Sydney Martinez and Sydny Nasello were selected to the Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy watchlist. This is the second consecutive year the pair has been chosen as watch list members, while Nasello was tabbed as a semifinalist for the 2020-21 season.
 
Martinez (Rincon, Ga.) finished a successful 2020-21 season with a slew of awards, including being named a United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-American and American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year. The goalkeeper finished with a 10-1-2 record while breaking the program record for goals-against average, as she allowed just 0.45 goals per game through the season.
 
In total, Martinez has compiled 18 shutouts and a career 0.797 save percentage and 0.751 goals-against average in 4314:43 minutes played and 47 appearances.
 
Nasello (Land O' Lakes, Fla.) was also a United Soccer Coaches All-American in the 2020-21 season and was also voted as the AAC Offensive Player of the Year. Last season, she posted six goals and five assists for 17 points, while taking 44 shots and scoring four game-winning goals.
 
In her career, Nasello has scored 15 goals and tallied 25 assists for 54 points. She's taken 151 shots and played in 54 games.
