TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Jan. 23, 2022) – The University of South Florida women's tennis team opened its 2022 season in dominating fashion on Sunday with a 7-0 shutout win at Florida A&M at the Althea Gibson Tennis Complex.

Margriet Timmermans got the Bulls off to a fast start, winning their doubles matches, 6-1 and 6-0.

Kiana Mokhtari were up 5-1 before the Green and Gold got the point.

In singles, South Florida had only one match go to three sets on the afternoon. Schumacher, who was named All-American Athletic Conference in 2021, got her spring season off to a good start, winning on court one, 6-0, 6-2, while Berry, a true freshman, won her first collegiate dual match, 6-2, 6-2.

On court three,
Laura Pellicer, battled back from a set down to win, 2-6, 7-6 (6), 12-10.

Boy (6-0, 6-1) on court four, Timmermans (6-1, 6-0) on court five, and Mjos (6-3, 6-1) on court six all had straightforward matches to earn their first wins of the season.
