Â
Coming off a dominating 7-0 win at Florida A&M on Sunday, the Bulls hung tough with the Gators during doubles play. After

Sierra Berry and
Amelie Boy held a 6-5 lead before to the Gators closed out the Bulls.
Â
In singles, on court two, Berry, a freshman, was impressive in her match against No. 34-ranked Marlee Zein, before falling, 6-3, 6-3. Boy battled No. 87-ranked Emma Shelton in three sets, dropping the first, 7-6 (4-7), but coming back to tie the match up at a one apiece, 6-2, in the second set. Shelton, however, scored 10 of the 16 points in the decisive third. Â

Â
Quotable
"It's a tough mountain to climb to come into Gainesville and sneak away with a win," said South Florida head coach
Cristina Moros. "But I am so proud of the way our team battled. We played a very close doubles point and we were right there with them in singles for a good part of the match. We have a lot of positives to take away into next weekend and a great base to build on for the rest of the season."
Â
Up Next
South Florida heads back on the road next weekend when it travels to Memphis, Tenn. to face Xavier on Saturday at 11 a.m., at the University of Memphis, and then the home-standing Tigers on Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Eldon Roark Tennis Center.
Â
The Bulls will open their 2022 home schedule on Friday, Feb. 4 at 1:30 p.m. against North Florida.
