TAMPA (Feb. 23, 2022) – The University of South Florida women's tennis team won its second match of the season on Tuesday and did it impressively, knocking off previously undefeated Stetson, 4-3 at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts. The win improved the Bulls to 2-7 on the season while the Hatters fall to 7-1.
 
The Bulls took the doubles point from Stetson but did so only after the Hatters took court three over Kiana Mokhtari and Laura Pellicer, 6-1. South Florida clawed its way back to even the doubles portion up at one match apiece, as Amelie Boy and Sierra Berry took court one, 6-4, followed by Grace Schumacher and Margriet Timmermans securing the point on court two, 7-5.    
 
Berry gave the Bulls a 2-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-2 victory on court one, her first win at the number one position of her collegiate career.
 
The Hatters came back to level the dual up at two-all, with wins on court three over Pellicer (6-1, 7-5) and court five over Boy (6-2, 6-2), and then went up 3-2 on court four with a 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 win over Timmermans.
 
Selin Yaylali picked up her first win of the season, 6-3, 7-5 on court six leading the way for Schumacher to secure the win for the Bulls on court two. Schumacher had to come from a set down to win 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.
