TAMPA (April 10, 2022) – The University of South Florida women's tennis team fell to No. 68 Florida Atlantic on Sunday at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts, 4-0.
The Bulls and Owls split matches during the doubles portion of the dual with South Florida's No. 1 tandem of
Amelie Boy and
Sierra Berry pulling out a 6-3 victory before the Green and Gold's
Selin Yaylali and
Laura Pellicer fell on court three, 6-4. That brought the doubles point down to court two where the Bulls'
Grace Schumacher and
Margriet Timmermans found themselves on a short end of a 7-6 (7-3) battle as FAU took the point and a 1-0 lead in the dual.
The Owls jumped out in singles taking court six (6-0, 6-3) over Yaylali and then court four (6-4, 6-2) over Boy. Florida Atlantic clinched the match, defeating Berry, 7-5, 6-1, on court two.
Pellicer was up 3-6, 6-2, 2-1 on court three when FAU closed out the dual.
