TAMPA (April 16, 2022) – The University of South Florida women's tennis team closed out its 2022 regular season on Saturday facing No. 18 Central Florida in the War on I-4, falling to the Knights, 4-0, at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.

Central Florida came out of the gate fast during the doubles portion of the dual, earning the point, but didn't have an easy time of it. The Knights took court three, 6-1, over Selin Yaylali and Laura Pellicer, but found themselves in a battle on courts two and three.

South Florida led early on in the match with Grace Schumacher and Margriet Timmermans holding a lead on court two, 3-0, however, the Knights came back winning four of the next five points to even things up at four-all. Central Florida and South Florida exchanged points to keep the match level at five-all before the Knights eventually pulled the victory out and secured the point.

Amelie Boy and Sierra Berry, on court one, were playing nearly point-for-point with court two and were at five-all when Central Florida closed out doubles. Boy and Berry had a match point at 5-4 before the Knights took the final point.

In singles, Central Florida took court six (6-0, 6-1) over Kiana Mokhtari, court four (6-0, 6-4) over Timmermans and court two (6-2, 6-3) over Berry to win the dual.
