South Florida Continues Its Homestand on Sunday Against No. 68 FAU

TAMPA (April 9, 2022) – The University of South Florida women's tennis team continues its regular season-ending home stretch with a matchup against No. 68 Florida Atlantic on Sunday at noon at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.  
 
The Bulls are aiming to get back in the win column following back-to-back setbacks last weekend to No. No. 55 Rice and No. 42 FIU.
 
Laura Pellicer has put up a series of strong performances in the past month and is in the midst of a three-match winning streak. Pellicer is 7-6 on the year and 7-4 on court three.
 
Also on a winning streak is Grace Schumacher who has been victorious in her last two matches and is 8-7 overall, and is 6-6 on court one.
 
Sierra Berry leads the Bulls in total wins with nine (9-7), which includes a stellar 7-4 mark on court two.
 
On the doubles side, the Bulls' No. 2 team of Schumacher and Margriet Timmermans have also rounded into form as the season has progressed. The duo is 7-6 and they find themselves on a three-match win streak.

Scouting Florida Atlantic
The Owls enter their match with South Florida 11-9 on the year, and ranked No. 68 in the most recent ITA national rankings, following a tight 4-3 win over Brown on March 30. That win snapped a three-match losing streak, which came on the heels of winning seven straight.

In singles play, FAU's biggest strength is it's strong top three. At number one, Martina Kudelova is 10-8 on court one (11-14 overall), while Katerina Filip is 13-7 on the year and 12-3 on court two, and on a 10-match winning streak. Wrapping up the trio is Lexi Silna who is 10-4 on the year with all matches coming on court three.
 
In doubles play, the Owls hop on the shoulders of Kudelova and Filip who are 7-7 this season, including a 6-5 mark on court one.
