Bulls Wrap Up Fall Schedule in Vero Beach

Coming off a win in the USF Invitational, the Bulls will compete in the Quail Valley Invitational.

TAMPA, FLA., October 13, 2023 – After capturing a win in the USF Invitational, the South Florida men's golf team will head across the state for the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational at Quail Valley Golf Club in Vero Beach, Fla. The Bulls are led by head coach Steve Bradley, the five-time AAC Coach of the Year is in his 10th season.
 
Along with the team victory in the USF Invitational, senior Sam Nicholson, competing as an individual, earned the first win of his collegiate career. Nicholson closed with a 70 (-2) in the final round to tie for first at 203 (-13). Nicholson tied a program record for the lowest 36-hole total, shooting 133 (-11) in the first two rounds on Monday.
 
The Quail Valley Invitational is the final of the four events on the Bulls' Fall schedule. USF has two top-five finishes in the first three events. Along with the win at the USF Invitational, the Bulls finished fourth in the Windon Memorial Classic and 11th at the Visit Knoxville Classic.
 
The Bulls will compete in a 16-team field that will include host Michigan State, Cincinnati, Florida Atlantic, Indiana, Liberty, Maryland, Memphis, Minnesota, North Florida, Northern Illinois, Kent State, UNC-Greensboro, Penn State, Rutgers, South Florida, and Toledo.
 
In the 54-hole event, the field will play 36 holes on Sunday, October 15, beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (EST). On Monday, the competitors will play 18 holes with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (EST).
 
Leading the charge for the 2023-24 Bulls is Jake Peacock, a member 2022-23 AAC Men's Golf All-Conference team. He has carded six rounds of par or better out of nine chances and owns a 69.67 scoring average so far this season with six of. Peacock finished tied for fourth in the USF Invitational at 209 (-7), his fourth top-10 finish as a Bull. He paced the Bulls in the team's opening event, the Knoxville Classic, carding a 211(+1) to finish 22nd in the 84-player field. At the Windon Memorial Classic, he matched his career-best with a 66 in the opening round and finished tied for 14th and tied for fourth at the USF Invitational while posting another 66 in round two.
 
Head Coach Steve Bradley announced the following competitors for the Bulls in Northfield:
 
Jake Peacock (Jr., Milton, Ga.), Brock Healy (Gr., Norcross, Ga.), Cooper Smith (Redshirt Jr., Tampa, Fla.), Sam Nicholson (Sr., Atlantic Beach, Fla.) Nino Palmquist (So., Halmstad, Sweden) and individual Chase Gullikson (Jr., Orlando, Fla.).

"Coming off the win, the guys should have a lot of confidence heading to a course they are familiar with. This is a big event for us, a chance to flip some losses we suffered in our first event of the season.  Hopefully, the guys continue to realize their potential and looking forward to some great golf."
 
About USF Men's Golf
  The USF men's golf program has captured 17 conference titles and has seen players earn 19 All-America honors. The Bulls have won five American Athletic Conference Tournament championships in wire-to-wire fashion, winning four-consecutive from 2015-18. The Bulls have had four individual conference champions, including Albin Bergstrom in 2021, and gone on to earn nine straight NCAA Regional appearances, including a 6th place finish in NCAA Championship match-play in 2015. USF is led by Steve Bradley, who has been named American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year five times since taking over the program in 2014. The Bulls have posted 22 tournament wins under Bradley entering the 2023-24 season, by far the most under any coach in program history.
