Tampa, Fla. (October 30, 2023) – The University of South Florida women's tennis team sent select players down to Miami over the weekend to compete at the FIU Invitational. Three Bulls scored wins on the second day of competition, all coming against the six-time defending DII National Champion Barry University Buccaneers.
Gargi Pawar,
Ireland Simme and
Kelly Vargas each recorded wins in their singles matches against foes from Barry on Saturday. Pawar was a 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(5) winner, Simme tallied a 6-1, 6-1 triumph and Vargas post a 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 triumph.
Vargas also earned a 7-5, 6-0 win over FAU on Friday to open the event and Pawar scored a 7-6(3), 6-4 victory over FAU on the first day of competition.
