Tampa, Fla. (April 13, 2023) – No. 59 USF Women's Tennis was on the wrong end of a 4-1 score in their match against UCF in Orlando. The Bulls had won their last two matches and have now won nine of their last 11.
The Bulls dropped to 13-7 on the season while UCF evened their record to 9-9.
UCF swept the doubles matches to secure the first point heading into singles play. The Knights went 3-1 in singles to seal the match.Â
In doubles, Nadja Bay Christians and Marta Falceto Font lost a hard-fought match 7-6. Sierra Berry and Laura Pellicer fell 6-2 and Cliona Walsh and Ireland Simme fell 6-5.
Laura Pellicer earned a point in singles for the Bulls, winning in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. Pellicer improves her singles record to 11-8 on the season. Sierra Berry dropped her match 6-2, 6-2. Margriet Timmermans fell 7-5, 6-1 and Marta Falceto Font lost the first set 6-1 and fell in a close second set 7-6 as UCF closed out the match. Two matches went unfinished.Â
