No. 72 South Florida defeats No. 54 VCU

The Bulls extended their win stretch to four straight with their second triumph over a ranked opponent in that span.

TAMPA (March 10, 2024) – No. 72 South Florida (8-6) extended its winning streak to four in a row with a 4-2 victory over No. 54 VCU (11-3) on Sunday afternoon. The Bulls' winning streak also includes a win over No. 74 Michigan State on Wednesday, February 28 which helped propel USF into the rankings itself.

South Florida also improved to 8-2 at home this season with the triumph on Sunday.

Less than a month ago, the Bulls' record stood at 4-5 when they were set to open an eight-match homestand that began against No. 11 Auburn and included four matches in an eight-day span. Since dropping that match to Auburn, the Bulls have been on a roll and came into Sunday's ranked matchup with VCU well-rested for the first time in a long time, having not played since last Sunday.

Grace Schumacher and Nadja Bay Christians made quick work of their doubles foe on Court 1, 6-0, but the Bulls dropped the team point, suffering 6-4 losses on the other two courts.
South Florida then dominated the Rams in singles action to capture the team win.

Schumacher battled back for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory on Court 1. Bay Christians took care of business, 6-2, 6-1, on Court 2 and Melisa Senli also won in straight sets on Court 3, 6-2, 6-3.

Ireland Simme sealed the USF win in a grueling 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 victory on Court 6.

Senli improved to a team-best 8-2 record in singles competition with her victory.
