TAMPA (January 22, 2025) – The University of South Florida women's tennis team heads to College Station, Texas for the ITA Kickoff Weekend on January 24-25. South Florida will open play with a high-profile showdown against host and No. 2-ranked Texas A&M. The Aggies won the 2024 NCAA National Championship.
The Bulls and Aggies square off at 1 p.m. ET on Friday, January 24. The teams have split their last four matchups, but haven't met since 2012. South Florida will close out the weekend facing off against either TCU or Denver on Saturday, January 25.
The Bulls look to build off their success at the Florida Invitational, which opened their spring slate, where they collected four doubles victories against Florida State and Florida.
South Florida returns three players from last year's roster, Gargi Pawar, Melisa Senli, and Kelly Vargas. Senli and Pawar each finished 2024 with 10 singles wins. The Bulls gain another experienced newcomer, junior Dharani Niroshan. Niroshan posted a 6-2 singles record and went 4-3 in doubles play at Mississippi State in 2024. Senli and Niroshan earned their first doubles victory at the Florida Invitational.
The remainder of the 2025 roster includes five freshmen: Josefine Falster, Karine Kulidjian, Sienna Leeson, Margherita Marcon, and Charlotte Ruud. The pairings of Leeson/Rudd and Marcon/Kulidjian got off to a strong start with doubles wins last week in their first spring matches.
