CHERRY MARLEY WINS INDIVIDUAL TITLE, BULLS TAKE SECOND PLACE AT WHITE SANDS INVITATIONAL

The Bulls posted their best finish of the season by placing second at the White Sands Invitational

PARADISE ISLAND, The Bahamas (October 26, 2025)- The Bulls posted their best finish of the season by placing second at the White Sands Invitational, backed by Cherry Marley's individual championship win. 

Cherry Marley dominated The Ocean Club, capturing the individual title. She opened strong with steady play to card a 75, keeping herself near the top of the leaderboard. She battled through Round 2 with another 75, highlighted by key birdies that kept her momentum alive. Marley then closed with an even-par 72, sealing her victory and claiming the individual championship at the White Sands Invitational. 

Valentina Bosselmann delivered her best career finish highlighted by a red-hot opening nine in her final round that featured a birdie on the par-3 third. Her consistency throughout the week earned her a top-10 finish, tying for sixth overall. Regina Plascencia had a solid tournament, bouncing back with a 74 in Round 2 to move up the leaderboard. She finished strong with a 75 in the final round, also tying for sixth place. 

Tiphani Knight tied for 18th opening with a solid 74 for round one. Emma Kim tied for 24th finishing +22 for the Bulls. 

Individually, Holly McLean and Alice Webb had a strong tournament. McLean tied for 13th and finished +14.  Her strongest round came during round two where she carded +2. Webb finished 22nd, being able to show resilience throughout the three days. 

The Bulls have no more tournaments this semester and will look to prepare for a strong start next semester. Their next tournament will be the UCF PDI Intercollegiate in Orlando beginning on January 25.

Tampa native AJ Newell, a former LPGA Tour player and NCAA All-American, enters her second season as head coach of the USF women's golf team. In her first season, she coached Leonor Medeiros to the American All-Conference Team. Newell coached the Bulls to four top 10 finishes in the 2024-25 season.

Newell took over leadership of the Bulls' program following a successful three-year stint as assistant coach at the University of Michigan, where she helped guide the Wolverines to three straight NCAA Regional appearances, a 2022 Big Ten title, and a trip to the 2022 NCAA Championship Finals.
