JACKSONVILLE, Fla., October 29, 2025 – The University of South Florida women's sailing team earned a strong second-place finish at the SAISA Women's Fall Championships, hosted by Jacksonville University at the Florida Yacht Club. USF competed alongside seven other programs including College of Charleston, Rollins, North Carolina State, Miami, Clemson, Florida State, and Jacksonville.
"While we are pleased with our runner-up finish at the Fall Conference Championships, we are already preparing for an even stronger spring season, as USF will be hosting the Spring Conference Championships in April," said Allison Jolly. "The top two teams advance to the National Championships which USF is also hosting, May 15-18, 2026. The last time USF hosted the National Championships was back in 2013, so we are very excited to bring this event back to Tampa Bay."
Sailors were treated to ideal conditions, with steady winds starting around 8 knots and building to 10–14 knots throughout the day. Eight races were completed, averaging just under 20 minutes each.
In a combined A and B division format, all 16 boats competed on the water simultaneously, with scores from both divisions added together to determine final team standings. College of Charleston secured first place overall with 63 points, while USF followed closely behind in second with 71 points.
Leading the way for the Bulls, A Division sailors
Kailey Warrior and
Madisen Hamai captured individual low point honors among all competitors with 20 points, including first place finishes in two races. Racing in the B Division,
Grace Jones and
Melissa Janes placed fifth overall in the competition with 51 points, contributing to USF's impressive team result.
Cate Brennan and
Dita Carlsen served as alternates, ready to step in if needed.
