Bulls Sweep FAMU to Clinch First Win, 7-0

TAMPA, FLA. (February 2nd, 2025) - The South Florida women's tennis team (1-4) earned their first win of the season, 7-0, against Florida A&M (0-4) at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts on Sunday afternoon.
For the Bulls, it is the first sweep since March 13th, 2024, when the team won 7-0 over Cleveland State.
After a defaulted win on Court Three for USF, the pairing of Sienna Leeson/Margherita Marcon secured the opening match point with a 6-1 victory on Court One over FAMU's Sara Rakim/Genesis Whitelock.
In singles play, the Bulls added another point off a defaulted Court Six by the Rattlers. USF swept five straight solo matches to take the overall victory. Dharani Niroshan highlighted the sweep with a 2-3 comeback in set one that concluded in ten-straight game wins to take Court Five (6-3, 6-0). Niroshan and Margherita Marcon earned their first collegiate win.

South Florida continues their stretch of in-state opponents on Friday, February 7th against Florida Gulf Coast. Start time is slated for 1 p.m.
