USF to Host First Women’s Team Race Regatta of 2025 Season in St. Petersburg, Fla.

TAMPA, Fla. (February 22, 2025) – The University of South Florida will host the first women's team race regatta of the 2025 season on Saturday, February 22, and Sunday, February 23, at the USF St. Petersburg campus. Seven teams will compete, including two ranked in the top 20 nationally. Teams attending the event include our very own South Florida, Florida State University, College of Charleston, University of Hawaii, Rollins College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Jacksonville University.

The regatta will showcase a mix of experienced sailors and fresh talent from the participating teams. The Bulls will be represented by Kaiely Warrior (sophomore), Madisen Hamai (junior), Ghislaine Van Empel (sophomore), Cate Brennan (junior), Grace Jones (freshman), Macy Parke (freshman), Marina Dreyfuss (sophomore), Sara Menesale (freshman), and Heidi Hicks (senior).

"Hosting this regatta is a great way to showcase our program, and we're excited to welcome such a strong field of competitors to our home waters," said Head Coach Allison Jolly. "We're proud of our team's hard work and determination, and we look forward to seeing them race against some of the best in the country."

Fans can expect a favorable weather forecast with warm temperatures in the 60s and light breezes.

About USF Sailing
The USF sailing program has reached the national finals in 11 of the last 12 years. The Bulls finished in the top 10 during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. The sailing team is based out of St. Petersburg and has been led since 2014 by head coach Allison Jolly, a former USA Olympian and Gold Medalist, 2016 Florida Sports Hall of Fame inductee and 2019 U.S. National Sailing Hall of Fame inductee.
