BULLS BATTLE TO WIN THEIR FOURTH STRAIGHT MATCH AT HOME VS. GONZAGA

TAMPA, FLA. (March 12, 2025) - The South Florida women's tennis team (5-9) clinches back-to-back matches and wins against Gonzaga (7-6) by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday morning. Today's match secured their fourth straight win at home this season. 

The Bulls battled in doubles play but ultimately fell short to the Zags, with Gonzaga claiming the doubles point. 

South Florida brought the heat in singles play. Margherita Marcon quickly secured the first match victory on Court Three, defeating Gonzaga's Ella Nielson (6-2, 6-3). Another hard-fought win followed on Court One for Melisa Senli (7-6, 6-3). 

Bulls and Zags found themselves knotted at 3-3. It came down to two final courts with Kelly Vargas battling back to claim her win on Court 5 (7-6 (10-8), 4-6, 6-2) and Charlotte Ruud clinching the match on Court 4 in a three-set showdown (6-3, 6-7, 6-4). This marks Ruud's fourth straight solo victory on their home courts. 

UP NEXT

The Bulls travel on the road for a doubleheader weekend against Charlotte on Saturday, March 15 at 10 a.m. EST and Florida Atlantic on Sunday, March 16 at 11:00 a.m. EST. Both matches will be played in Boca Raton, FL.
