Emma Kim Leads USF Women’s Golf at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational

AURORA, ONTARIO, CANADA (September 23, 2025)Emma Kim led the University of South Florida women's golf team at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational. South Florida finished in seventh place, above Michigan State and Purdue.
 
Kim's best was round one, where she posted an even-par 72, highlighted by birdies on holes 6, 9, and 12. During round two, she made five birdies, contributing to her round score of 73 (+1). Through the two rounds, she finished at +1 for the tournament with consistent play and stretches of strong birdie runs. This was Kim's career best finish as she tied for 17th. She produced eight birdies across the two rounds.  
 
Cherry Marley bounced back in round 2 with a stronger performance. Her round was highlighted by steady play on the back nine with clutch birdies on holes 10, 12, and 15 that set the tone for a round of 73 (+1). Alice Webb showed remarkable resilience, finishing strong with a birdie on her final hole of Round 2. She tallied six birdies for the tournament.
 
Regina Plascencia put together two solid rounds and produced four birdies for the tournament. Tiphani Knight put together a solid second round with steady play. She finished the tournament with three birdies.
 
The Bulls head to their next tournament in Miami, Florida, at the Pat Bradley Invitational. The tournament will take place on September 29 and 30.

Tampa native AJ Newell, a former LPGA Tour player and NCAA All-American, enters her second season as head coach of the USF women's golf team. In her first season, she coached Leonor Medeiros to the American All-Conference Team. Newell coached the Bulls to four top 10 finishes in the 2024-25 season.
 
Newell took over leadership of the Bulls' program following a successful three-year stint as assistant coach at the University of Michigan, where she helped guide the Wolverines to three straight NCAA Regional appearances, a 2022 Big Ten title, and a trip to the 2022 NCAA Championship Finals.
