TAMPA (January 26)- The University of South Florida women's tennis team wrapped up a strong weekend at the Tampa Cup, competing in a hidden dual format against St. Petersburg College, Hillsborough Community College, and the University of Tampa. Across three days of doubles and singles play, the Bulls went 34-3 and used the event as valuable match preparation while continuing to build confidence and chemistry heading into the heart of the spring slate.
USF set the tone early on Friday with composed doubles play, showing depth and balance across the lineup. Pairings found early success, giving the Bulls momentum heading into singles.
In singles action, several Bulls delivered decisive performances. Melisa Senli controlled her match with a straight-set win, while Sienna Leeson followed with a dominant showing of her own. Charlotte Ruud and Amelie Drukerova each battled through competitive matches, using strong second-set responses and tiebreak play to secure wins. Loana Vargas also impressed with a confident straight-set victory, helping cap off a productive opening day.
Saturday saw the Bulls elevate their level, particularly in doubles, where they posted multiple commanding wins to open the day.
Singles play highlighted the team's growing confidence. Senli delivered one of the most emphatic performances of the weekend with a double-bagel win, while Leeson continued her strong form with another dominant straight-set result. Ruud, Marcon, and Miglio all picked up composed wins, and Drukerova once again showed resilience, rallying through a tight match tiebreak to close out her opponent. Vargas and Niroshan rounded out the day with convincing victories, underscoring the depth of the Bulls' lineup.
On the final day, USF continued to show consistency in doubles, picking up wins across all featured pairings to start the morning.
