USF Women's Tennis Debut USF Championship Courts in Home Opener

TAMPA, Fla., February 6, 2026 — South Florida opened its home schedule Friday against Florida Gulf Coast in a closely contested matchup. The Bulls competed in front of their home crowd for the first time this season, opening play at the new USF Championship Courts and showcasing a competitive effort across the lineup.

The Bulls opened the day with a doubles victory on court three, as Josefine Falster and Charlotte Ruud earned a 6–3 win over the Eagles. The pairing secured South Florida's first doubles win at the new facility, providing an early spark in front of the home crowd. FGCU ultimately took the doubles point with hard-fought wins on courts one and two. 

In singles action, Melisa Senli competed at No. 1 singles in a three-set battle against Nora Svensson. Amelie Drukerova delivered a composed performance at the No. 6 position, defeating Sabrina Jaramillo 6–4, 7–6(2) to put South Florida on the board. At No. 3 singles, Margherita Marcon added another point for the Bulls with a resilient comeback, rallying for a 3–6, 7–5, 6–2 victory over Ashley Matz.

Sienna Leeson was locked in a competitive match at the No. 2 singles position against June Bjork before play concluded unfinished, highlighting the depth and fight shown by the Bulls throughout the lineup.

South Florida's home opener marked a significant milestone for the program, as the Bulls officially competed at the USF Championship Courts for the first time, opening a new chapter for the program in front of their home supporters. They will continue their homestand Saturday when the Bulls host North Florida at noon.
