The USF Women's Tennis team opens American Athletic Conference Tournament play as the No. 12 seed, set to face No. 5 seed Florida Atlantic in a first-round matchup on Thursday at 1 p.m. Central. The Bulls enter postseason play looking to flip the script against an FAU squad they've already battled closely this season.
USF and FAU met on March 1, with the Owls taking a 4–2 decision in a tightly contested match in Tampa. The Bulls struck first in doubles that day and earned a singles win from Josefine Falster, but FAU ultimately claimed four singles matches to secure the victory.
History adds another layer to the matchup: FAU has had the upper hand in the recent series, holding a 6–4 edge over USF in their last 10 meetings. The Bulls will be aiming to close that gap in the most important match of the season, with everything on the line in conference tournament play.
The winner of Thursday's opening-round clash advances to face the winner of No. 4 Tulsa and No. 13 East Carolina on Friday at 10 a.m. Central, keeping the championship path alive in a tightly packed bracket.
With elimination looming and familiarity between the programs high, USF will look for a sharper start and a complete team performance to extend its postseason run.
