South Florida's D.J. Crowther Earns The American Conference Offensive Player of the Week

Senior running back becomes just the third Bull ever to post 100 rushing yards, 40 receiving yards, and three rushing touchdowns in a single game.
TAMPA, Fla., September 21, 2026ย โ South Florida senior running back D.J. Crowther has been named The American Conference's Offensive Player of the Week after a historic performance in the Bulls' 59-17 win over Delaware State on Saturday night at Raymond James Stadium.

Crowther carried the ball just eight times for 101 yards and three touchdowns, adding two catches for 40 yards to finish with 141 all-purpose yards. He opened the scoring with a 10-yard touchdown run on USF's opening drive, added a 38-yard score later in the first quarter, and capped his night with a 39-yard touchdown in the third quarter that broke the game open.

With the performance, Crowther became just the third player in program history to record at least 100 rushing yards, 40 receiving yards, and three rushing touchdowns in a single game, joining Darrell Scott (Sept. 17, 2011) and Andre Hall (Sept. 25, 2004). He is also the first Bull to rush for three touchdowns in a game since Jaren Mangham did so against Florida A&M in 2021.

USF's offense finished with a season-high 611 yards and seven rushing touchdowns, the second-most in a single game in program history, as the Bulls improved to 3-0 for the first time since 2018.

South Florida completed construction on a new $22-million Indoor Performance Facility in 2023, and construction is in progress on an on-campus stadium and football operations center broke slated for completion by 2027.

The Bulls have posted 18 winning seasons, earned 16 All-America selections (including two consensus selections, the last coming in 2021), and 35 first-team all-conference honorees. South Florida has had 30 players selected in the NFL Draft, while the Bulls have made 13 bowl game appearances (going 8-5), tied for the third-most nationally in the first 25 seasons of a program's bowl eligibility. South Florida posted back-to-back 10-win seasons in 2016 and 2017, logging a program-record 11-2 mark in 2016, while finishing both seasons ranked in the Top 25. The Bulls spent a program-record 20 straight weeks ranked in the Top 25 during the 2016 and 2017 campaigns and reached as high as No. 2 in the AP rankings during the 2007 season.
