South Florida Cross Country Finishes 2026 Season Opener at the Florida Intercollegiate XC Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Sept. 4, 2026) โ The South Florida cross country teams opened their 2026 season Friday evening at the Florida Intercollegiate XC Invitational, hosted by North Florida, at Cecil Field in Jacksonville, Florida.

Malia Hambrick led the women's team in her first collegiate race, posting a personal-best 5K time of 18:38.77 to finish 33rd among 168 runners. Delaney Stephens finished 34th with a 5K time of 18:39.81, earning the eighth top-40 finish of her collegiate cross country career.

Tyler Dillon finished in 61st place with a 5K time of 16:14.39, followed by Cole Stevens in 62nd (16:14.51) and Andrew Marello in 63rd (16:14.77).

South Florida will compete at the FSU Pre-Regional, hosted by Florida State, on Friday, Sept. 18 at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Florida.

The South Florida Cross Country team has earned two All-America selections, Christina Benton in 2002 and Gray Mavhera in 1994. The Bulls have advanced to the NCAA Cross Country Championships seven times in program history, three times for the men and four times for the women. The USF men's teams have won seven team conference championships, and the women have won five team championships. Director of Track & Field and Cross Countryย Erik Jenkinsย took over the program in 2019. USF hosted the 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary and the 2021 and 2023 American Conference Outdoor Championship at the USF Track and Field Stadium, as well as the 2022 American Country Cross Country Championship at Holloway Park.ย
