Furuya joined the Bulls in 2018-19 after spending his first two collegiate seasons at the University of Iowa.
FALL 2019: Posted a 73.89 scoring average through nine rounds... Set a fall season best with a 3-under 68 in the opening round of the Intercollegiate at Innisbrook (Oct. 28), his fourth round of par or better of the fall, before finishing in a tie for 20th place on Oct. 29.
SPRING 2019: Member of American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team... Tied for second on the team with 17 rounds of par or better throughout the season... Ranked third on the squad in season scoring average (72.2) and top-10 finishes (3)... Tied for third on the team with six top-25 performances... Best finish of the spring was a tie for sixth at the USF Invitational (March 12)... Collected his sixth top-25 finish of the season by tying for 20th place at the Stitch Intercollegiate (April 13)... Was one of four Bulls to compete in all 32 rounds in 2018-19.
FALL 2018: Member of USF Athletics Fall 2018 Academic Honor Roll... Led the team with 10 rounds of par or better and four top-25 finishes in addition to ranking second on the squad with a 70.9 scoring average.. Also tied for the team lead with two top-10 performances while competing in all four tournaments (12 rounds)... Named The American's golf player of the month for September...Started his USF career with a pair of top-five outings, tying for fifth at the Louisville Cardinal Challenge at 6-under (69-68-70, 207), and tying for fourth at the Windon Memorial Classic at 5-under (70-70-71, 211)... Tied for 21st at the Intercollegiate at The Grove (72-69-77, 218)... Finished the fall by tying for 25th place at the Quail Valley Intercollegiate with a 1-under score (67-68-80, 215).
SPRING 2018: Tied for a career-best 11th at Hawkeye Invitational with a 36-hole score of 148 (+4).
FALL 2017: Competed in every tournament... averaged 73.67 strokes per 18 holes... posted five rounds at or below par... finished a career-best tied for 12th at Golfweek Conference Challenge with season-best 54-hole score of 214 (-2)... recorded a career-low 18-hole score of 69 in Iowa’s first tournament at the Gopher Invitational.
SPRING 2017: Competed in four tournaments for Iowa… averaged 75.80 strokes per round… fired a low of 73 twice throughout the spring… finished tied for 59th at the Schenkel Invitational, cardinga 227 (+11)... carded a 223 (+7) at the Hawkeye Invitational finishing tied for 43rd... letterwinner.
FALL 2016: Competed in three tournaments... averaging 75.56 strokes per round, posting one round at or below par during the first round of the Royal Oaks Intercollegiate.
HIGH SCHOOL: Two-time Saddlebrook Golfer of the Year... Florida State champion freshman year of high school... won IJGT tournament of champions during sophomore year, finished runner-up junior and senior years... FJ Invitational top 30 two consecutive years... Junior PGA and PING Invitational top 30... lowest tournament round of 65 at HJGT Big-I qualifier in Falcons Fire... Originally from Guam and moved to the United States when he was 12 years old.
