Biography

Castro joined the Bulls in 2019-20 as a junior transfer from Florida Gulf Coast University.

SPRING 2020: AAC All-Academic Team... Member of USF Athletics Honor Roll... Finished the season with a 74.75 scoring average through 12 rounds... Top finish of the season was an 11th-place showing at The Challenge at Concession (March 10) after carding a season best 1-under 71 in the final round... Made his first appearance in the lineup at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate (March 2-3).

FALL 2019: Posted a 74.3 scoring average through six rounds... Made his USF debut as an individual at the Marquette Intercollegiate (Oct. 6-8)... Carded a USF career best 73 in the second round of the Quail Valley Intercollegiate, where he competed as an individual (Oct. 20-21).

2018:19 (FGCU): Set a career best in scoring average last season (73.32) and placed inside the top 25 in five of six events in the spring with two top-five performances... Was named ASUN Men's Golfer of the Week after tying for fifth at the FAU Spring Championship with an 8-under 208, which marked FGCU's lowest three-round total since 2013... Finished inside the top 30 in nine of 10 events throughout the season... Competed in 28 total rounds.

2017-18 (FGCU): ASUN All-Freshman Team selection … ASUN Golfer of the Week (March 8) … Finished the year with a stroke average of 75.43 to rank third on the FGCU team and fifth among all ASUN first-year players … Medalist honors out of 90 competitors at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate (March 5-6) with rounds of 70-73-67 -- 210 (-6) … the final-round 67 was the lowest round by any FGCU player in any round all year; tied for the 15th-best round in program history and tied for the eighth-best final round in program history … Competed in each of FGCU’s final seven tournaments after not qualifying for the first three … Opened his spring season with three straight top-five finishes: T-3 with rounds of 78-71: 149 (+5) at the Randy Grimes Memorial Shootout (Feb. 11), T-5 with scores of 74-71-73: 218 (+2) at the Legacy Intercollegiate (Feb. 26-27) and 1st at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate … six par-or-better rounds were the third-most on FGCU despite playing eight fewer rounds than the Green and Blue leaders … Three eagles led the team and ranked tied as the fourth-most in single-season program history … Par-5 scoring average of 4.94 for the year … 58 birdies were the third-most on the team … In 19 rounds in which he was utilized in the team lineup in the spring, his score was used 18 times.

SOUTH DADE HIGH SCHOOL: Two-time All-Dade County Player of the Year … Three-time All-Dade County selection … Four-year letter winner … FHSAA State Medalist (fourth place) … Representative of the South Team in The Florida Cup … In 2016-17 across the Florida Junior Tour, AJGA and Amateur, he posted six top-10 finishes and five top-five showings.
