2022: Second Team All-AAC…became just the sixth 1,000-yard rusher in program history…ranked second in the AAC in rushing (98.8 ypg, T5th at USF for a season) and finished with 1,186 yards and eight touchdowns on the year, the sixth-best rushing season in program history…led USF in rushing in eight games…tied a USF record with five-straight 100-yard games in the final five games of the season, part of seven 100-yard games on the year (3rd all-time)…his 6.74 ypc rank fourth in a season at USF and seventh nationally…set a USF season record with 1,936 all-purpose yards, including 659 on kick returns and 91 receiving, which lead the nation in yardage and ranked No. 3 in yards per game (161.33) following completion of the regular season…ran for a career-high 169 yards and – touchdowns at Tulsa (11.18)…his career-best 293 all-purpose yards at Temple (11.5), including 129 rushing, are the second-highest total in USF history…named to AAC Honor Roll after logging 250 all-purpose yards at Florida (9.17), including 150 yards and a touchdown rushing…other 100-yard rushing games included vs. Howard (105), at Houston (106 and 2 TD), SMU (145) and UCF (144)…made a career-best four catches for 47 at Houston (10.29).
2021: Named a 2021 NCAA Consensus All-American, becoming just the second in program history and first since defensive end George Selvie earned the elite recognition in 2007... first team All-America selection from Walter Camp and FWAA, two of the five major selectors... six first team All-America selections (Walter Camp, FWAA, Phil Steele, Action Network, Bleacher Report, Pro Football Network) and three second team (Sporting News, Pro Football Focus, CBS/247 Sports) as a standout kick returner...nine total All-America selections are tied with Selvie for the most ever garnered in one season by a Bull...FWAA Freshman All-America Team selection...posted a record-setting season that saw the Bay area native lead the nation with three kickoff returns for touchdowns, tie an NCAA game record with two 100-yard returns in the same game and break the Bulls’ season return average record...first team all-conference selection from Phil Steele...second-team all-conference by Pro Football Focus...broke the Bulls’ 18-year-old season kick return average record set by J.R. Reed in 2003 (31.7)....Battie finished fifth nationally with a 32.5 yards per return average on 20 returns...named the American Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week twice on the 2021 season ...had an NCAA record-tying performance vs. Houston (11/6) with two 100-yard kickoff returns in the game... joined Utah’s Reggie Dunn (vs. Cal in 2012) as the only two players in NCAA history to post two 100-yard kickoff returns in the same game, part of three touchdowns and 236 all-purpose yards in the game...also scored on a 29-yard touchdown run and his 208 kickoff return yards in the game rank second all-time at USF behind Terrence Horne’s 264 vs. Georgia Tech in 2018...posted a 100-yard return vs. Tulsa (10/16) and finished the season with three, one behind Dunn’s NCAA record of four posted in the 2012 season...joined Alabama’s Jameson Williams as the only players to post two touchdown returns in the same game on the season...became the first USF player to post more than one 100-yard return on their career and he set USF season and career records by posting three touchdown returns on kickoffs....joined Horne among just 27 players in NCAA history to post two returns for touchdowns in one game...ran for 324 yards and one touchdown on the season while averaging 5.6 yards per carry...ran for 110 yards on 10 carries vs. Florida A&M (9/11)...rushed for 77 yards on 12 carries vs. Temple (10/23)...caught seven passes for 67 yards... led the Bulls with 1,035 all-purpose yards (86.3 ypg).
2020: After a strong showing in fall camp, Battie earned significant playing time throughout the year and led the Bulls in rushing in two of the final three games of the season...played in eight of the Bulls' nine games...finished second on the team rushing for 332 yards on 46 carries and added one rushing touchdown...his 7.2 yards per carry was by far the highest on the team...also caught four passes for 35 yards and returned six kickoffs for 118 yards (19. ypr)...posted his first 100-yard game with 15 carries for 102 yards and a 1-yard touchdown and added two kickoff returns for 53 yards, including a career-long 31-yard return) in a 58-46 loss to UCF (11/27) to end the year...led USF with 86 yards on 13 carries and added two catches for 27 yards at Houston (11/14)...led USF with 76 yards on 10 carries (7.6 ypc) and returned a kickoff 21 yards at Memphis (11/7)...gained 43 yards on just three carries (14.3 ypc) in his first collegiate game vs. The Citadel (9/12)...returned two kickoffs for 38 yards at Notre Dame (9/19).
SARASOTA HS: Coached by Spencer Hodges at Sarasota HS...transferred to Sarasota HS for his senior season after originally playing for Sarasota as a sophomore…played for Braden River HS as a junior and freshman…rushed for 4,542 yards and 62 touchdowns in his final three prep seasons…as a senior, rushed for 1,182 yards and 15 touchdowns in nine games…as a junior, ran for 2,133 yards (seventh among Florida backs at all levels) on 249 carries (8.6 ypc) at Braden River…had nine games of more than 100 rushing yards, while scoring 28 touchdowns on the ground…as a sophomore, rushed for 1,227 yards and 19 touchdowns for Sarasota HS...committed to the Bulls in April of 2019….rated as a three-star recruit by 247Sports and Scout… chose USF over offers from Coastal Carolina, Kentucky, Middle Tennessee State, Northern Illinois, Akron, Cincinnati, UConn and Kansas State.
PERSONAL: Born September 27, 2001 in Sarasota, Fla….son of Tommie and Adriene Battie…has one brother and two sisters…enjoys fishing in his spare time…majoring in pre-physical education...chose USF over offers from Coastal Carolina, Kentucky, Middle Tennessee State, Northern Illinois, Akron, Cincinnati, UConn and Kansas State...earned USF Athletics Honor Roll in the spring of 2021 and AAC All-Academic honors in 2020 and 2021.
