Pat Moorer was named USF head strength and conditioning coach in February of 2017. Moorer oversees the USF Athletics strength and conditioning staff and programs for all USF teams as well as directly develops and implements strength and conditioning for the Bulls' football program.

In his 27th year in collegiate coaching in 2018, Moorer spent the previous seven seasons before coming to USF as head strength and conditioning coach on head coach Charlie Strong's staffs at Texas (2014-16) and Louisville (2010-13). Moorer and Strong were first part of the same program in 1988, when Moorer played linebacker and Strong served as outside linebackers coach at the University of Florida.

In his first season at USF, Moorer trained two NFL Draft selections and five players signed as free agents. Moorer trained three Louisville players selected in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft and had 16 Longhorn players either selected in the NFL Draft or signed as free agents during his first two seasons at Texas.

At Texas, Moorer trained defensive tackle Hassan Ridgeway, who was drafted in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts, while five other players - DE Shiro Davis (Chiefs), WR Daje Johnson (Falcons), WR Marcus Johnson (Eagles), K Nick Rose (Falcons) and CB Duke Thomas (Texans) - signed UDFA contracts. Former Louisville DT Sheldon Rankins was also drafted in the first round by the New Orleans Saints, while two other former Cardinals signed UDFA contracts.

Defensive tackle Malcom Brown (first round to New England), Jordan Hicks (third round to Philadelphia), safety Mykkele Thompson (fifth round to N.Y. Giants), cornerback Quandre Diggs (sixth round to Detroit) and tight end Geoff Swaim (seventh round to Dallas) were taken in the 2015 NFL Draft while deep snapper Nate Boyer (Seattle), running back Malcolm Brown (St. Louis), wide receiver John Harris (Philadelphia), defensive end Cedric Reed (Buffalo) and wide receiver Jaxon Shipley (Arizona) signed as free agents. In addition, nine of Moorer's former players at Louisville were picked in the 2015 draft.

At Louisville, Moorer had an immediate impact on the Cardinals, helping a team that went 15-21 the three years prior to his arrival, including a 4-8 mark in 2009, to back-to-back 7-6 marks his first two seasons on staff. In 2012, Louisville went 11-2 with a Sugar Bowl win over Florida, Moorer's alma mater, and in 2013 the Cardinals went 12-1 with a win over Miami (Fla.) in the Russell Athletic Bowl. The program went on to have three players selected in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, including QB Teddy Bridgewater, S Calvin Pryor and DE Marcus Smith.

A native of Pensacola, Fla., Moorer played inside linebacker for four seasons at Florida, the last two of which overlapped with Strong's second tenure on the UF staff. At UF, Moorer went from a walk-on to become the 1986 SEC Freshman of the Year. He led UF in tackles in 1988-89, served as team captain as a senior and played in three bowl games. Moorer went on to play linebacker for the NFL's San Diego Chargers in 1990 before playing for the Franfurt Galaxy (1991-92) of the World Professional League (later NFL Europe).

Moorer began his coaching career as assistant strength and conditioning coach at Florida (1992-94) before being promoted to coordinator of strength and conditioning at UF (1995-96), his time overlapping with three seasons of Strong's third tenure on the Florida coaching staff.

Moorer went on to serve as director of strength and conditioning at Illinois (1997-98) before reuniting with Strong at South Carolina in 1999. Moorer was director of strength and conditioning at South Carolina from 1999-2009, overlapping with a four-year period in which Strong served as the Gamecocks' defensive coordinator (1999-2002). At USC, Moorer managed four strength facilities and eight coaches.

Moorer was certified as a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach (MSCC) by the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA) in 2006, the highest honor that can be achieved in the profession. He also served as the personal trainer to former Florida running back Emmitt Smith, the NFL's all-time leading rusher.

He earned a bachelor of science degree in health and human performance from Florida in 1992 and is a 2001 graduate of the Sports Management Institute. A graduate of Escambia High School, Moorer and his wife, Sharon, have two sons, Patrick II and Kaleb Ivan, and a daughter, Nina Rae.
