Biography

2021: Played in all twelve of the Bulls' games on the year, all starts at tight end...finished fourth on the team in receptions and yards with 14 receptions for 173 yards (12.4 avg) and a touchdown...logged two receptions for 35 yards at NC State (9/02)...logged one reception for 33 yards and a touchdown vs. Houston...logged a season-high four receptions for 22 yards at UCF (11/26)...caught at least one pass in nine games of twelve games.

2020: Played in all nine of the Bulls' games on the year and made seven starts at tight end...finished fifth on the team with 15 receptions for 161 yards (10.7 ypc) and a touchdown...proved to be a strong blocker in the run game...had a season-best four catches for 32 yards vs. Tulsa (10/23)...has three catches for 36 yards at Cincinnati (10/3/)...caught at least one pass in seven games...posted his first USF TD at Memphis (11/7) on a three-yard toss from Noah Johnson...had two catches for a career-best 47 yards vs. ECU (10/10).

2019 (Northern Illinois): Played in all 12 games and ranked second on the team with 445 yards receiving...scored three touchdowns and averaged 37.1 receiving yards per game...ranked third on the team with 34 receptions...caught a season-high five passes and recorded a career-high 100 receiving yards in a win over Ohio (10/12)...turned in a career-best 48-yard reception against Ohio...caught two passes and scored a touchdown at Vanderbilt (9/28)...hauled in two catches and a touchdown against Akron (10/26)...had a 7-yard touchdown reception against Western Michigan (11/26)...had four catches for 51 yards in the season opener against Illinois State (8/31). 

2018 (Northern Illinois): Played in four games with two starts while preserving his redshirt season...missed the first four games of the season with a foot injury...came back briefly versus Eastern Michigan (9/29), then sat out the next three games...started and made his first catch of the year in opening series at Akron (11/1) with a 13-yard grab...caught two passes for 24 yards and provided solid blocking for two 100-yard rushers in win over Toledo (11/7)...made a big impact in MAC Championship win over Buffalo with career-high three catches for 42 yards in his second start...season-long 24-yard reception helped set up Huskies’ first score, and recorded an 11-yard catch on NIU’s game-winning drive. 

2017 (Northern Illinois): NIU’s second tight end often played alongside starter Shane Wimann and made four starts...caught four passes for 48 yards and two touchdowns, with a catch in four different games...his 26-yard touchdown against Western Michigan was the game-winning score with 6:20 left on the clock in the fourth quarter...made another touchdown grab with a 5-yarder against Ball State in the Huskies’ 63-17 win...special teams stalwart blocked a punt with 3:07 to play that allowed NIU to come back and tie the Eastern Michigan (10/26) game to send the game to overtime...named to the Academic All-MAC Team.

2016 (Northern Illinois): Recorded his first action as a Huskie versus San Diego State (9/17) as a reserve tight end, and made his first career start against Western Illinois (9/24)...caught one pass versus Central Michigan (10/15) for 3 yards...effective as a blocker in NIU’s two-tight end sets as the Huskies ranked 16th...finished the season with three starts in eight games played.

LEWIS CENTRAL HS: Helped Lewis Central earn a trip to the Iowa 4A state quarterfinals...selected All-State by the Des Moines Register, the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier and The Gazette in Cedar Rapids...made 36 catches for 570 yards and seven touchdowns as a junior followed by 31 caught passes for 453 yards and five scores as a senior...coached by Jim Duggan.

PERSONAL: Born Feb. 4, 1998 in Omaha, Neb...son of Matt Brinkman and Carrie Brinkman...is earning a master’s degree in business administration.
