Finished his Alcorn State career with 23 starts at quarterback, 6,306 total yards and 59 total touchdowns...he ranked in ASU’s top 10 career record charts in passing yards (4,417, 5th), passing touchdowns (31, T7th) and rushing yards (1,889, 9th) when he departed.
2020: Transferred to USF for his final season, reuniting with running backs coach and former West Virginia star quarterback Pat White, who coached quarterbacks at Alcorn State the previous two seasons before arriving at USF as running backs coach....saw action in six of the Bulls' nine games on the year and made one start (at Memphis)...completed 48-of-77 passes (62.3%) for 459 yards and three touchdowns with one interception...ran 41 times for 106 yards and three touchdowns...ran seven times for 49 yards and a touchdown and passed for 24 yards in the season-opening win over The Citadel (9/12)...completed 18-of-27 passes for 150 yards with a touchdown and an interception and ran nine times for 28 yards vs. Tulsa (10/23)...passed for a season-best 217 yards on 20-of-29 (69%) and had two touchdowns, including a 75-yard scoring strike to Kelley Joiner, in his lone start at Memphis (11/7)...passed for 61 yard on 4-of-12 at Notre Dame (9/19)...declared for the NFL Draft following the conclusion of the season.
2019 (Alcorn State): A sprained throwing shoulder limited Johnson to three games in 2019...passed for 312 yards and a touchdown and ran for 25 yards and a touchdown after capturing Southwestern Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2018.
2018 (Alcorn State): 2018 SWAC Offensive Player of the Year...2018 SWAC Championship Offensive MVP...2018 All-Conference First-Team...one of four finalists for the HBCU Player of the Year Award...one of 25 finalists for the Walter Payton Award (best player in FCS)...one of four finalists for the C Spire Conerly Trophy (best player in the state of Mississippi)...led team to 2018 SWAC Championship game victory over Southern (37-28) and a berth in the Celebration Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, where they fell to North Carolina A&T (24-22) to finish with a 9-4 record, 6-1 in conference...totaled 3,287 yards and 26 touchdowns on the year, including 1,080 yards (7.5 ypc) and 11 TDs rushing and 2,207 yards and 15 touchdowns passing...ranked third in the nation in rushing yards per carry (7.5) and 16th in completion percentage (.621)...on Oct. 6, 2018, Johnson ran for the longest touchdown in school history with a 92-yarder vs. Alabama State.
2017 (Alcorn State): Threw for 782 yards and four touchdowns, and rushed for 333 yards and six touchdowns....threw for a career-high 355 yards against Arkansas-Pine Bluff in 2016, and rushed for a career-high 138 yards against Alabama A&M in 2017.
2016 (Alcorn State): Led the team in scoring in 2016 with 60 points after throwing for 1,116 yards and 11 touchdowns, and rushing for 440 yards and 10 touchdowns...tied the school record for touchdowns in a single game with eight against MVSU, tying Steve McNair’s eight touchdowns vs. Chattanooga in 1994....passed for 282 yards and was 11-for-15 with seven touchdowns against Mississippi Valley State...added 62 yards (six carries) and a touchdown rushing...Johnson played for coach Fred McNair, Steve’s brother.
PERSONAL: Born Oct. 18, 1996 in Tampa, Fla....son of Dawn Johnson...has two brothers and one sister...enjoys yoga during his spare time...pursuing a master’s degree in physical education.
