A consensus four-star recruit out of St. Petersburg, Gibbons enrolled at USF in January of 2015 after initially taking classes at Stanford and undergoing workouts with the Cardinal football program. Under NCAA rules, he will sit out the 2015 season and will have four years of eligibility starting with the 2016 campaign.

PETERSBURG CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL: Originally signed with Stanford during the 2014 signing period…enrolled at USF in January 2015… Gibbons’ list of 47 scholarship offers included Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Miami (FL), Mississippi State, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, South Carolina and Tennessee…a Rivals Top 250 prospect, Gibbons was a consensus four-star recruit who was ranked a Top 20 player at his position nationally and 216th overall by Rivals. ESPN.com ranked him in the ESPN300 and the 15^th best offensive tackle nationally…played for coach Steve Dudley at St. Petersburg Catholic where he earned first team Class 3A all-state honors in 2013…an All-Pinellas County and All-Suncoast first team pick…selected to participate in the 2014 Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl, 2014 West Coast Bowl, 2014 Blue-Grey Bowl, 2014 Offense-Defense Bowl and 2013 Pinellas County All-Star Game…also selected to the 2014 Team USA U19 National Team…a two-time team captain…blocked for two running backs that ran for 1,000 yards in 2013…earned three varsity letters in basketball.
