Owns six USF punting records and on pace for at least three career marks
Schneider owns six USF punting records. He started 33 games, punted 177 times (4th all-time) and amassed 7,765 yards (3rd all-time) while posting a 43.9 yards per punt career average (1st all-time) ...set a Bulls record with a 46.0 yards per punt average in 2019, posted a season yardage mark with 3,266 punting yards and broke the single-game punting average record four times in 2019, including 52.8 ypp on five punts in a 27-23 victory over BYU...in 2018, he banged a 72-yard punt vs. East Carolina to set the mark for the longest punt in USF history and his 74 punts that year set a season record... at the end of his career, he held the first, second, third and fourth spots for single-game punting average in USF history, all set during the 2019 season, and recorded 51 punts of 50 yards or longer...his 129 punts without a block streak (2018-19) is the second-longest in Bulls’ history.
2020: Named to the Ray Guy Award Watch List for the second time...a William V. Campbell Trophy candidate...saw action in eight of the Bulls nine games on the year...punted 32 times for 1,323 yards and a 41.3 yards per punt average with a 60-yard long...downed seven punts inside the 20 and had nine kicks of 50-plus yards on the year...downed a career-best three punts inside the 20 in the season-opening win vs. The Citadel (9/12)...suffered a wrist injury in the Notre Dame game (9/19) that affected him throughout the season and caused him to miss one game mid-year...excelled late in the season, posting a 46.0 ypp average oon four punts against Tulsa (10/23), 45.4 on five kicks at Memphis (11/7), 46.6 on eight punts at Houston (11/43), and 46.0 on three punts vs. UCF (11/27).
2019: Named a 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-American (just the second in program history)…named to the Ray Guy Award watch list…played in all 12 games…ranked second in the conference and 12th nationally in punting average…punted 71 times for a USF single-season record 3,266 yards…set a new single-season program record with an average of 46.0 yards per punt…set a new single-game program record with an average 52.8 yards on five punts in a 27-23 win over BYU (10/12)…holds the first, second, third and fourth spots for single-game punting average at USF, all set during the 2019 season…punted seven times for an average of 51.6 yards against Georgia Tech (9/6)…punted nine times for an average of 51.6 yards against Memphis (11/23)…broke the single-game total punting yards record against Memphis with 464 yards and turned in three punts inside the 20-yard line…downed 15 punts inside the 20 on the year and had 25 punts of 50-plus yards....posted one tackle against South Carolina State (9/14).
2018: Finished seventh in The American averaging 42.9 yards per punt, the fourth-best season mark in USF history…totaled 3,176 yards on 74 punts, setting a USF season record for punting yardage and tying the season mark for most punts…had a 72-yard punt against East Carolina (9/22) that tied for the longest in USF history and also had a 67-yard punt in the game that ranks sixth…tallied 17 punts of 50 or more yards…pinned the opponent inside the 20-yard line 18 times..earned conference honor roll recognition after averaging 49.2 ypp (the third-best mark in program history) in a 20-13 victory over East Carolina (9/22)...averaged 49.0 ypp vs. UCF to tie for the fifth-best mark in program history.
SANTA BARBARA CITY COLLEGE (2016): Punted 48 times for 1,764 yards, for an average of 38.6 ypp with a long of 51 yards in 11 games as a freshman…selected to the CCCAA All-State Region 4 team after ranking 11th in the state with 14 punts inside the 20-yard line…the latest Vaqueros’ punter to earn and FBS scholarship, the previous three were Tim Gleeson (Rutgers), Mitch Wishnowsky (Utah) and Joel Whitford (Washington), with Wishnowsky winning the Ray Guy Award as the nation’s best punter in 2016.
PERSONAL: Born on March 3, 1990, in Port Macquarie, Australia...son of Peter and Debbie Schneider...has two older sisters, Renee and Nicole...is 30 years old and worked construction for eight years before becoming a collegiate punter...enjoys carpentry...played in a rugby league during high school...was a keeper in soccer...graduated in December of 2019 with a degree in communications and earned a master’s degree in entrepreneurship and applied technologies...named to the Athletics Honor Roll (2018, 2019 fall and spring and 2020 spring)...a 2018 and 2019 AAC All-Academic Team selection...2019 CoSIDA Academic All-American.
