Luisa Obando

  • Class Senior

Biography

Luisa Obando enters her fourth season as an assistant coach for the USF women’s tennis team. Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Luisa is the daughter of Enrique Obando and Piedad Kestrepo. Before attending the University of South Florida, Luisa played in both the South American and World Cup Tournaments.

While playing for USF, Luisa became a very accomplished athlete. She began her freshman year in 2002, when she played at various singles positions throughout her career. She had an impressive record of 9-6 at the No. 3 position, and was a huge part of USF’s huge four-match win-streak with doubles partner Fabiana Taverna her sophomore season. As a sophomore, Luisa had the best overall record on the team going 21-12 (12-7 in dual matches) and was also undefeated in the Conference USA Tournament. In 2004, Obando proved to be a veteran leader for the Bulls squad. Despite playing the entire season with a serious back injury, she finished the season 11-12. Previous coaches speak highly of Luisa’s leadership and communication skills.

Obando holds a degree in public relations from the University of South Florida and is currently working towards a master’s degree.
