Joey Mitchell has been a part of the USF Event Management staff since May 2017. He was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director of Event Management in June 2018 after serving his first year as Director of Event Management.

In his current role, Mitchell has oversight of game management for Olympic sports, and is the primary game administrator for women’s basketball. During his tenure at USF, Mitchell has coordinated multiple AAC and NCAA championships, including the 2018 NCAA Track & Field East Preliminary.

Mitchell came to USF from UCF (2015-17), where he was promoted to the Associate Director of Event Management after starting as the Assistant Director of Events in October 2015. Prior to UCF, Mitchell did graduate study work at the College of Saint Rose and served as the Athletic Operations Coordinator (2014-15).

Originally from Wayland, Michigan, Mitchell is a graduate of Saginaw Valley State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications in 2014. Mitchell was a Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete at Grand Rapids Community College where he earned an associate’s degree.
