Trey Compton serves as the Assistant Director of Compliance in the Athletics Compliance department at USF, a position he began in November 2025. In this role, he works closely with coaches, student-athletes, and staff to support eligibility, recruiting oversight, and NCAA rules education, helping the Bulls navigate the evolving compliance landscape while fostering a culture of integrity and accountability.
Compton brings extensive experience in NCAA compliance, having served as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Internal Affairs at Adams State University from 2021 to 2025, where he led institution-wide rules education, implemented ARMS, coordinated NIL processes, and managed transfer and eligibility operations. Prior to that, he was the Athletics Compliance Graduate Assistant at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi from 2020 to 2021 while earning his MBA and also gained experience as a compliance and sports communications intern at the University of Colorado–Colorado Springs. His varied background provides him with knowledge across NCAA Divisions I, II, and III and a deep understanding of the unique challenges across collegiate athletics.
A former baseball student-athlete at Elmhurst University in Elmhurst, Illinois, Compton was a two-time team captain, First Team All-Conference selection, ABCA/Rawlings All-Region honoree, and the program’s 2018 batting champion. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Sports Management with minors in Business Administration and Communication. A die-hard Chicago sports fan, Compton grew up in Mount Prospect, Illinois.
