Head women’s soccer coach Denise Schilte-Brown announced in 2017 the promotion of Jason Dowiak from assistant coach to associate head coach. Dowiak has served as an assistant coach for the last four seasons under Schilte-Brown.

Hired in 2013, Dowiak was named the recruiting coordinator in 2016 and has recruited successfully two high school players of the year, two USYSA national champions, three junior college all-Americans and a CCCAA Junior College National Player of the Year. Dowiak has also recruited 15 players with national team experience from Canada, Jamaica, Mexico, Norway, Iceland and Haiti.

Along with his outstanding recruiting, Dowiak’s players have also received numerous accolades. He has coached two players to major conference honors, including the 2016 rookie of the year and 2015 defensive player of the year.

He has also coached 18 all-conference selections and had 23 players receive weekly conference honors. Dowiak coached freshman Evelyne Viens to a program-best 16 goals in a season, a record that had not been touched since 1998.

Dowiak has helped lead USF to new heights, including a program-best ranking of No. 14 in 2016 after an 8-0 start by the Bulls. Over the last four years, the Bulls have compiled 50 wins, including four consecutive 10+ win seasons.

With Dowiak on staff, the Bulls have made two NCAA Tournament appearances and two American Athletic Conference Championship finals. In 2015, the Bulls tied the program record for wins in a season with 15 and their 15 goals allowed was the second lowest in program history.

Dowiak, who played at College of Charleston for Ralph Lundy, served as an assistant coach for the FGCU women’s program from 2011-13 and helped guide the Eagles to their highest NCAA RPI ranking and first-ever Southeast Regional ranking. Dowiak was directly involved in all aspects of a program that won Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament titles and earned NCAA tourney berths the past two seasons.

Before Dowiak headed to Southwest Florida, he was Anderson University’s women’s soccer head coach from 2007-2011 and helped the Ravens become one of the nation’s Top 20 Most Improved NCAA D-II Programs. Dowiak led Anderson University to a Carolinas Conference Tournament appearance in his first season and later helped the program reach its first conference tournament championship game. The Ravens also posted their best overall and conference record (12-9, 8-3) in school history under Dowiak.

Dowiak has remained busy outside of college soccer, serving as an assistant director and staff coach for Ralph Lundy Soccer Academy from 2001-2011 before becoming a part of two prestigious programs in Florida. Dowiak has been a staff coach on Florida’s Olympic Development Program and an assistant director of coaching for the Florida Fire Juniors Soccer Club since 2011.
