Radenko Dobras was a standout student-athlete from 1989-92, becoming the first Bull to lead the program in scoring in four straight seasons and also the first player in USF men’s basketball history to earn Academic All-America honors.
Dobras posted a 3.4 grade-point average as a computer engineering major and helped lead the Bulls to three postseason tournaments in his career - 1990 NCAA tournament, 1991 NIT and 1992 NCAA tournament.
A native of Yugoslavia, Dobras is one of the first three Bulls to earn first or second team all-conference honors in three seasons. The MVP of the 1990 Sun Belt tournament helped USF capture its first league tournament title that year and advance to the NCAA tournament for the first time.
Dobras held four program career records by the end of his run with the Bulls after becoming the first of two players in school history to post 1,500 points and 500 assists. On the USF career charts, Dobras currently sits third in points (1,935), assists (534), three-pointers (217), field goal attempts (1,639) and three-point field goal attempts (617) along with ranking fourth in made field goals (714).
Dobras also picked up lots of league recognition, earning a spot on the Sun Belt All-Freshman Team in 1988-89, all-conference second team honors as a sophomore and a first-team nod as a junior before being named to the Metro Conference first team as a senior.
Dobras’ 17.0 points per game are tied for fourth in USF history and he held the school's assist record for over a decade with 534. Dobras became the third USF player to have his jersey retired during a ceremony on Jan. 2, 2002.
Dobras was inducted into the USF Athletics Hall of Fame in 2011 and he’s still a fan favorite at the Yuengling Center as a regular attendee of Bulls home games.
